Jon Jonasson Head Coach/General Manager



Jon is currently entering his 2nd season with the Helena Bighorns of the NA3HL with big goals and is determined to reach them. In his first season in Helena, Jon rebuilt the program with only 4 returning players and reached the Frontier Division Finals posting a regular season record of 34-10-3. The bighorns finished just 1 point out of the wild card spot in the Silver Cup playoffs completing the season with the 5th most points in the NA3HL. In his first season with the Bighorns, the team received honors for the league MVP. The Bighorns also swept the the Frontier Division in positional awards receiving Division MVP, Division Top Forward, Division Top Defenseman, Division Top Goalie, Division Rookie of the Year. All of the Bighorns age out players earned spots on top college programs in NCAA D3 and ACHA D1. Coach Jonasson has 3 goals for the 2015-2016 season and that is to win the Frontier Division, win the NA3HL Silver Cup to continue to Nationals, and to advance every player to the next level that is capable whether it is NCAA, ACHA, or Tier 2. Player Development and Advancement has always been a high priority for Coach Jonasson and he is excited to continue that trend in his 2nd season with the Helena Bighorns. Coach Jonasson has moved over 30+ players to NAHL, NCAA D1/D3, ACHA D1.

Coach Jonasson calls Helena, MT home with his wife Kellie, and two daughters Charlie, and Skylar.

Craig Reinhardt, Assistant Coach/ Assistant General Manager

Craig is a level 4 USA Hockey certified coach joining the Bighorns after seven seasons with Missoula Montana's youth hockey program, his last four seasons as coach of The Missoula Bruins Varsity hockey team. He coached ACHA club hockey with The University of Montana for two seasons. Craig has also been involved with state and regional development and has served as head coach of Team Northwest. Craig came to Helena in September of 2014 to be with his fiance Stefani. It wasn't long before he joined the Bighorns coaching staff.

Craig's playing experience started at age seven in Billings Montana where he played through high school and captained The U18 AA Jr. Bulls. After high school he moved to Missoula to begin college and play for The University of Montana hockey team. Upon graduating he immediately joined the local youth association. 

Craig is starting his first full season with the Bighorns and is excited to be a part in building the new era of success.

Jake Ferguson, Assistant Coach/Off Ice Development Coach

Jake played his prep hockey at West Fargo High School in West Fargo, North Dakota. After completing his junior year, he left to play for the Omaha Jr. Lancers AAA program in the NAPHL. He spent two years in Nebraska, serving as their captain in his second season. From 2012-2014 Jake played for the Steele County Blades Junior A team in the MnJHL, earning the “Character of Steele” award his fist year and being named captain in his final season. Although Jake’s playing career was cut short by an injury in his last year, he looks forward to pursuing his love of the game through coaching.

Stephen Esau, a Pittsburgh, PA native, brings a breadth of hockey knowledge to the team having experienced the game from all levels. His playing career commenced as a three-year letterman with the North Allegheny Tigers. Then, after spending time with the Junior B Pittsburgh Stars, traveled to Nevada to play semi-professional hockey with the Las Vegas Aces of the WHL. 

Since his playing days, Steve has earned a Level 4 USA certified coaching certificate and has been behind the bench for players at all levels. For over two decades Steve has enjoyed and maintained an enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge of hockey and boasts having only one losing season ever as a coach. 

He continues to be involved with hockey in the Pittsburgh area through connections with High School PIHL teams and local Junior programs such as the Johnstown Tomahawks in the NAHL.

Corey Clarks (Founder/Head Scout) founded SRP Hockey in 2008 to help assist teams with finding players to fill Jr 'A' teams and small college's rosters.

 He was a Midget AA coach in Bellingham, Washington for the 1999 & 2000 seasons. He then coached High School hockey in both Minnesota and Iowa for 10 seasons. He coached 1 season in the Nor-Pac Tier lll Jr 'A' league with the Puget Sound Tomahawks in Seattle, Washington. He is now an assistant Coach with the Tier lll Jr 'A' WSHL Texas Brahma's in Dallas Texas beginning in the 2010-2011 season. He takes great pride in finding and talking to kids that have the desire to move on to the next level of hockey. He has been a scout with several Jr A hockey teams in the U.S. Including MNJHL, USPHL and also with Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL in Canada.

"I want kids to remember that, you get out of it, what you put into it" when trying to develop their game and individual skills.
